Foster Care

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), reauthorized as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), contains key provisions to promote educational stability and success for students in foster care. ESSA requires state and local education agencies to collaborate with custodial agencies to effectively address the educational needs of children in foster care. CEVS has developed procedures that adhere to the federal requirements and facilitate joint implementation of this law at the local level.
