Statement of Purpose
The Coldwater Academic Promoters have established six scholarships to recognize
academic achievement. These scholarships are limited to graduating seniors.
Types of Scholarships
There will be at least six scholarships awarded at the end of the school
year. Five scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who will
be attending a four-year college or university. One scholarship will
be awarded to a graduating senior who will be attending a technical or
trade
school. If no one applies for the
technical or trade school, the organization may elect to award another
scholarship to a four year program.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the four-year college or university scholarship, the student
must have a minimum grade point average of 8.00 on a 12 point scale after
seven semesters. To be eligible for the technical or trade school scholarship
the student must have a minimum grade point average of a 5.00 on a 12 point
scale. The student must have applied to either a four-year college or university,
a technical or trade school at the time of application.
Conditions of Acceptance
The scholarship check will be paid directly to the student. It is intended
to be used for tuition, books, room and board, or other expenses. The one-time
scholarship is awarded with the understanding that the accepting student
will not be required to repay, unless the student does not remain a full-time
student for one year at a college or university. If a student is required
to repay the scholarship, it shall be done within one month of withdrawal.
A full-time student requirement is defined by the college, university, trade
or technical school the recipient is attending.
Application Process
Any student may receive an application from the high school guidance office
after the January delivery date of applications to the guidance office. The
application is to be completed and returned to the high school guidance office
no later than the February deadline. A high school transcript of grades shall
accompany the application. The scholarship winners will be announced at the
Kiwanis banquet held in May.
